Day 6 – Fills That Serve the Song (2)

Overview

Now that you’re starting to see and feel these two shapes, we’re going to use them to create fills that sound polished and professional — the kind you can use in everyday playing across many styles of music.

A quick note about fills:

The best time to use them is when there’s space.

For example, during a verse when the singer pauses for a couple of seconds — that’s a perfect moment. Or right after a chorus when there’s a gap and no other instrument is playing.

Fills should add flavor, not clutter. They shine when they have room to breathe.

We’ll practice a few together so you can start recognizing those moments — and confidently step into them.
