Fills That Serve the Song (1)

Overview

In the “Going Pro” section, you’ll see the notes of the pentatonic scale. This scale is incredible for fills and soloing.

But here’s the key:

Just knowing the notes isn’t enough.

That’s like saying, “Here’s a bunch of numbers — now you’re a math genius.” It doesn’t work that way.

What does work?
Learning the shapes.

When you understand a couple of simple pentatonic shapes under your fingers, everything changes. The scale stops feeling random and starts feeling playable, repeatable, and musical.

So focus on mastering these two shapes. Once they feel natural, you’ll be able to move them into different keys and start creating fills with confidence.

This is where your playing starts to sound free.
