Your First Step: Worship Scales Made Simple

Overview – Key of C Major Scale

NOTE: Go to the previous lesson to download the Cheat Sheets if you still need them.

Start by looking at the top left of page 1 on your Cheat Sheets: Key of C.

You’ll see a picture of the piano with numbered circles on the keys. Those numbers show your right-hand fingering and guide you step-by-step up the scale.

Your fingers are numbered like this:
1 = thumb
2 = pointer finger
3 = middle finger
4 = ring finger
5 = pinky

As you move up the scale, follow the numbers inside the circles. This fingering makes the scale feel smooth and natural under your hand.

But don’t just play it — study the pattern. The key of C is all white keys, which makes it the easiest place to begin seeing how scales are structured. Learning to recognize these patterns will make building chords, adding fills, and creating beautiful embellishments much easier later on.

Take your time. Learn the shape. This is a foundation that unlocks everything else.
