MORE TEACHING
We use the notes from the D PENTATONIC SCALE in parts of this lesson. It's a 5-note scale and includes: D E F# A B
Which notes of the D SCALE is that in numbers? Let's see...If D=1, E=2, F#=3, G=4, A=5, B=6, and C#=7...then D E F# A B would be 1 2 3 5 and 6.
SOOOOoooooo...if you take 1 2 3 5 and 6 of any major scale...you'll get the MAJOR PENTATONIC SCALE. Does your brain hurt? LOL!
FOR FUN
The video below shows the notes of this scale in red and blue. Play whichever notes you want while the track plays. Add in the white circle to hear the "blues note". HINT: The blues note sounds best when quickly playing the note above or below it right after.
