What about inversions?
These notes do not always have to be played in this order. Moving chord tones above or below one another creates different inversions while keeping the same basic chord.
Chord symbols and practical voicings vary by publisher and musical style. This tool emphasizes common contemporary/lead-sheet spellings and shows added tones in a compact chord shape while true extensions continue upward.
