Intervals – Basic
About This Lesson
Basic Intervals – Music Theory
Here are a couple of things you need to know to start you journey in understanding intervals:
- The Alphabet
- Don’t worry about SHARPS and FLATS
If you are going from “A” to “B” then count both of those letters. A 1, B 2. That is a second. If you go from “A” to “G” you count all the letters in the order of the alphabet and get the number 7. Seventh!
In this basic level we want to just count the letters…that’s why we are not worried about the Sharps and Flats just yet. So if you go from “A” to “C#” you will called it a third. It is actually “some kind of” third. But we will cover that in the next level.
